For the 2011 SAE Race season,  UC Irvine's Engineering Department and The Art Institute Orange County's Industrial Design Team collaborated to build an innovative car body that would change the way SAE cars were designed. UCI placed 1st place in fuel economy, besting 60 other international teams around the world.
